Tom Harris Speaker and Freelance Writer Tom Harris has Bachelor and Master's degrees in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering and worked for 15 years as an aerospace propulsion and aerodynamics engineer for various Canadian organizations. Following this, he spent four years working as a full-time professional speaker and freelance writer in space exploration, presenting to audiences of all ages and backgrounds ranging from aerospace professionals and science teacher associations to groups of young children. In 1994, Tom moved back into engineering and now works as an automation systems specialist. He continues to speak and write about space exploration on a part-time basis. Global Warming www.globalwarming.com Science Computer Models Still Wrong Early this year the National Research Council released a report that argued that there was still a major discrepancy between the satellite- and surface-based temperature data but that both datasets were essentially correct. This presented a major challenge for computer models, according to the study, since they predict a substantial warming in the atmospheric layer measured by satellites while the data show almost no warming. |

Still Waiting for Greenhouse On October 24, 2002, the National Geographic Channel and the National Geographic News, ran a story titled "Greenland Melting? Satellite to Help Find Answer". After an overview of a new NASA satellite named ICESat to be launched in December 2002 and tasked to the study of ice and how it moves, the report goes on to examine the impact of `global warming' on the Greenland ice cap. The focus of the story was the Greenland fishing village of Ilulissat, on the west coast of Greenland at (69.23°N, 51.07°W), The National Geographic reports that 10% of all Greenland's icebergs come from Ilulissat (which means "place by the icebergs") and that the residents of the town say the ice is changing and not for the better, or so says the National Geographic. |

Skepticism.Net If some environmentalists are to be believed, we are on the verge of massive global climate change which will see a significant rise in sea levels, chaotic weather patterns, and catastrophic droughts all caused by small increase in global average temperature. This site provides links to resources skeptical of those sort of doomsday scenarios. The articles linked to here are written by a wide variety of people, from scientists to laypeople, and their inclusion here should not be read as an endorsement of their positions. Just as when dealing with things coming out of the environmentalist camp, you need to use your brain and decide for yourself to what extent global warming poses a threat to humanity.

Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine Overview A review of the research literature concerning the environmental consequences of increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide leads to the conclusion that increases during the 20th Century have produced no deleterious effects upon global weather, climate, or temperature. Increased carbon dioxide has, however, markedly increased plant growth rates. Predictions of harmful climatic effects due to future increases in minor greenhouse gases like CO2 are in error and do not conform to current experimental knowledge. |

Canadian Society of Petroleum
Geologistshttp://www.cspg.org/climate_change.html The CSPG has been asked by many members, and encouraged strongly by its Past Presidents, to state a position on the controversial subject of global climate change. Although the Society has traditionally avoided taking public positions, the Executive has agreed that we must take a clear stand as professionals, and as knowledgeable scientists of the Earth You will now find on the website a "Backgrounder" paper by Dave Barss, Albert Jacobs and Art Patterson in (pdf) format for downloading. An extensive and masterful paper by Prof. Chris de Freitas, Un. of Auckland, NZ (pdf) and much more |
